Alfons Laicher / Alfons Custom Furniture and Woodwork
I recently completed a college degree in Cabinetmaking at the National School of Cabinetmaking and Millwork located in Victoriaville, Quebec. This desk was my final project, built from a design by our teacher, Jean Brunel. I machined and assembled all the parts, and took the initiative to add elements of marquetry on all sides. Most of my pieces are a tribute to women’s beauty and elegance. For this desk, I wanted to have an artistic element of marquetry visible, no matter from which angle viewed. Maple leaves, birds, and various decorations of different colors make the desk unique.

“This project displayed superiority in marquetry involving flat and curved surfaces.” - Mike Taylor
